And so the furlough drags on!

Never mind the beach,
now it's off to the Pub!

It has got to that point. Haven't written anything for week, but tonight I don't seem to be able to get on the wi-fi. It was fine earlier, uploaded a couple of items to ebay then started watching something on Netflix and them nothing! Stupid thing is, I can get on the wi-fi no problem on my phone, but not on my PC. So I thought I would start another ramble.

I'm still on furlough. I have popped into work a couple of times, the guy I usually work with is back, has been for a couple of weeks. Him and about 4 others are full time, everybody else is only part time, but there are getting more and more of them being called back in. Think I would rather stay on furlough than go in for 3 or 4 days. I also think that my part of the business hasn't picked up as much as the rest of it, that's why I still off.

So now the pubs are re-opening, of sorts. Not that I'm particularly bothered, don't remember the last time I went to the pub. And of course there was all the non social distancing in places on the first night in many places. The weather has taken a turn towards rain in the last few days, so that should keep the numbers down and the casuals away. The bar that is in the hotel at the end of our road isn't open, probably because it's in a hotel, don't know, but generally we'd have thought it would be heaving, first chance it gets. Still it means our road isn't full of badly parked cars blocking the way.

Suppose I should update you on the salad front. I've been picking and eating the Chard (Bit crunchy, so I tend to smother it in salad cream). My beetroot is finally coming through, as are the carrots and the butternut squash. I've eaten the first batch of radishes and the sparrows have eaten the second lot. They also seem very fond of the Chard leaves. I've had a steady flow of strawberries and have now managed to get some peppers and chillies growning (the plants, no fruit yet), plus a tomato plant. All of these are from seeds grown on the windowsill (never been allowed to grow things on the windowsill before). Actually I've got a bit carried away, I'm also trying to grow some Lupins and Carnations!
I must pick some of my Dad's potatoes soon, the plants are starting to die off. His rhubarb though is growing like mad and I can only give so much away, might have to start eating it myself!! Went round last week to fill him Green waste bin and managed to stab myself with a thorn. Though nothing of it until 2 days later and my little finger was the size of my middle finger. So off to the walk-in centre, Doctor prescribed me some Antibiotics (expensive mornings gardening at £9.15 for the tablets!). Still, a week later and my finger is just about back to normal, just in time to go back and do some more gardening!
Help, I'm starting to make this place sound like River Cottage. I'll be campaigning against Tesco's next. Hang on, that sounds like a good idea!

Of course I've got to mention the return of Football. There have been quite a few games on the TV, some ok, some boring as. Liverpool obviously won the League and then got stuffed by Man City in the following game. The Championship is also underway, all the teams being given the chance to fight for promotion or relegation. Leagues One and Two voted not to play. So then 4 teams from League two that had voted not to play, played in the Play-Offs. They used PPG to determine who was involved, and Northampton, who had finished outside the play-offs, were pushed up the table on PPG and won promotion. In League One, 1 team that wanted to play got to play in the play-offs, the other 3 had voted not to play, but still did. Wycombe, who again were outside the play-offs when the season ground to a halt, were pushed up using PPG and are now in the Final with Oxford, who didn't want to play on!

How does that work. Either they do want to play or they don't!

Most teams voted not to play because they didn't want to end up worse off than they already were, so the upshot of it all is, Tranmere have been demoted back down to League Two using PPG (Although we don't think we've heard the last of this). Then for the icing on the cake, Mickey Mellon, our Manager has left to go and manage Dundee United in th Scottish Premier League. Can't really blame him, it's a chance that would not come around to often and technically I suppose it's a step up. Good Luck to him and Thanks for all the good memories that he has left us with. 3 trips to Wembley (Prenton Park South) in 3 years, there are not many Premier League clubs that have done that.
We now wait to see how many of our squad will still be there when the new manager, whoever they might be, arrives and whether they can keep them for the fight back up again.
And after all I said, Forest Green Rovers were the only team in League Two who voted to carry on playing!
