When Portsmouth met Cardiff City in the 2008 F.A. Cup final it was the first final since 1973 in which a team from either Liverpool, Manchester or London was not represented.
It was the first time since 1927 that Cardiff City, or any Welsh team had reached the final, ironically two years after the venue was changed from Cardiff, and so the Welsh National Anthem was sung as well as the British, God save the Queen.
