been won twice by the same player on 8 occasions, by: Tom
Finney, Danny Blanchflower, Stanley Matthews, Kenny
Dalglish, John Barnes, Gary Lineker & Cristiano Ronaldo.
Matthews and Lineker whilst at different clubs.
Pat Jennings was the first player to win both the Football Writers Footballer
of the year and the PFA Player of the year.
Kenny Dalglish was the first to win them both in the same
season.
Ian Rush won PFA Young player of the year, one
year and the other two the following year.
Thierry Henry was the first to
win the trophy in successive seasons. and then became the first to win it 3 times!
